along with my law class on thursday, i visited the provincial law courts in downtown vancouver. i managed to sample a few different trials. one was a 2nd-degree murder trial, another a youth case where five rough-around-the-edges teenage girls had robbed a 7-11 store. it was funny, but rather dull all in all. ally mcbeal and the practice do a horrible job providing an accurate display of the boringness and slow pace that is the legal system. and to think this is the branch of career i want to look into for the future. television tries to sensationalize everything that is actually boring as hell. look at power of attorney. that show is of what seems to be ex-porn stars turned legal counsel.
