after the whole survivor hoop-la, i noticed people from online and in school complaining like the social elite they are that survivor watchers are nothing more than stupid, ignorant, mass consumers. but that label is not only reserved for survivor watchers, but for anyone who watches television in general supposedly fits into this genre of mindless idiots. i find this to be another one of the arrogant, unsupported points brought up by people who consider themselves above the rest of the media-aware public.

i, for one, watch an abundance of healthy, entertaining, and sometimes pointless television programs. from roswell to felicity to the nba. it’s all for ENTERTAINMENT, people. i am a human being who needs to stimulate my mind with vicarious soap operas and mindless melodrama. but i do also enjoy the routine physical exertion of hiking, jogging, playing basketball, and just walking home from school on a sunny day.

everyone needs a balance of the fake world of television and the real world of exercise and interaction. i am lucky to have that. but being a close-minded individual to the world of film and story-telling isn’t the grandest of attributes, either. again, everyone needs to find a healthy median — and quit being such a stick in the mud.
