student-teacher relationships are a funny thing. high school harbours some truly inspiring advisors and advocates of higher learning, but also the intellect-lacking dupes. throughout the last five years, i have established and discarded many teacher-friends.
to be considered a “favourite student” of an esteemed teacher is a rewarding thought to one leaving the confines of the high school curriculi. so i’m grateful for this teacher who was kind enough to place that label upon me. he has proven time and time again that the classroom is not always a place of tests, coerced discussion, and reprimand. he made learning between teacher and student a type of relationship akin to friendship. it’s a nice feeling some odd hours into a cold winter morning when one must drag their tired mind into the classroom… with a teacher who is willing to learn from us just as much as we will undoubtedly learn from him.
thanks, buce.
