i’ve done it now. i set aside my position at the dental office to take up a job in retail.

i had an interview less than a month ago with “esprit,” although i think they call the store “next exit” now. anyway, the manager phoned back a couple of days ago to inform me that i was hired. i was shocked mainly because it took them eons to reply; i thought they had rejected my sorry inexperienced ass.

so, i told my boss at the office that i would be taking the job in retail. most people would call me stupid at this point because i make $9.00 per hour at the office as opposed to the minimum wage i’ll be striving for at the mall. i’m not sure many people will understand my desire to experience the world of retail. the fakeness of it, the cheery smiley-faced co-workers… i want to try it and see how i do.

perhaps i’m living in a romantic state of mind, where experience is ultimately embedded in most of what i set about to do.
