detroit beats vancouver, winning the series 4-2. well, what can you do? after all of your cheering, support, and energy, it’s hard to lose four straight games (three on home ice) and try to think positively while enduring elimination.
i think the canucks played a great series. it’s tough being an 8th ranking team and playing the 1st in a torturous battle. we just lacked the tremendous experience that the red wings have certainly exhibited. as much as i think linden and cooke put in excellent effort through and through, i can’t bring myself to insult great players like yzerman or fedorov for their role in this series, as they were also outstanding. the canucks definitely deserve vancouver fans’ gratitude for giving us something to cheer about and simply for playing amazing hockey.
we still have next year. with that notion in mind, i’m sure we’ll gain the expertise and confidence that i did not witness for more than two games on the ice these past few weeks. and since i seem to have more time on my hands now than i did during the last couple of years, i’ll definitely be there to cheer them on. go canucks!
for the rest of the stanley cup playoffs, i’ll be keeping my eye on the other canadian teams, such as ottawa and toronto. and maybe even detroit (please don’t pelt me with beer- or soda-filled cups like you did hasek!). i still hate chelios, though. man, that mo’fo just has a way of getting under your skin and annoying the hell out of you.
enough hockey talk — i am so drained.
