i’m smack dab in the middle of my reading break week (“reading break” means students are supposed to use this break to read, while most people just see it as a break from reading), and i haven’t really done much with my time. so, i am off to victoria for the rest of the week to visit me older sister all by meself (sorry, i’ve been watching a lot of irish cinema recently for a film studies course).
i’m supposed to be catching up on my class readings, but i’ve just been finishing off harry potter and the order of the phoenix (again), watching an ridiculous amount of television shows on my computer, and listening to kanye west’s college dropout cd. you know, i didn’t think i’d like kanye west’s stuff, mainly because he seems like a cocky asshole every time i see him on interviews, but his songs are actually pretty good. some of them make me feel silly and sad to be wasting my life away in university, but for the most part, they’re good.
my dad died, and he left me his degrees. my mom would always say, “dad, why don’t you work?” but he just kept learning. all the other kids’ parents were working and saving up money for school, and i was actually in school when my dad was in school. he was so greedy with degrees, he took my degree. and now i’m just glad he left me these, because all the regular homeless people have newspaper…also, before i head off to victoria for the rest of the week, i just want to give a big shout-out (oh god, i really just used that word, didn’t i?) to (mt) media temple. when bloghosts went down and under in november and everyone was scrambling to reclaim their domain names from jace herring and whatnot, i transferred all of my stuff to (mt) media temple and everything’s been uphill since then. being able to continue using movable type was a big issue for me, and they made the move very easy. so, yeah… that’s my rave review of them. :-)
